I first spotted images of this area in a picture-book called “Fragile Earth,” which included these satellite photos in its pages in the context of being related to natural disasters. These images from Aceh province in Sumatra, Indonesia, are “pre-Tsunami(Dec’04)” and were placed alongside post-tsunami images of destruction.
